Charles & His Family.
|This Page is a Tribute to Charles Gordon Speare
from Hamilton, Canada who recently passed away.
The funeral was held at 3:00pm Eastern on May 29th in Hamilton. It was
presided over by the Rev. R. Bernhardt, and was attended by an estimated 150 or more relatives, neighbours, friends, and former co-workers. At the
funeral his son Steven delivered an emotion filled tribute to his as he called
him "father and friend". His sister Lorraine Taylor delivered an equally emotion packed eulogy for her brother in the form of a poem.
Charles Gordon Speare had apprenticed as a tool and die maker and worked at the International Harvester plant in Hamilton.
Over the years he had been involved in arrangements for 3 Speare family reunions. The last reunion was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Stoney Creek, Ontario about 1990.
He was an avid sports fan. He was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf hockey club of the NHL He also was a fan of the Hamilton Tiger Cat Football club of the CFL, and fan of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball team.
He loved his family and hosted many family gatherings over the years at his home in Hamilton. Many a Christmas day was spent at his home with his many relatives and friends. Though it may have been tiring, he and his
family never complained. When his mother Eva Speare turned 80 years, the family once again played host to the gathering, and watched as the grandchildren had fun in the pool. This gathering turned into an annual event, anticipated eagerly by all, and continued to be held up until shortly
before his mother's death in 1999.
